Copyright Policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026
GeetSuno Music Group distributes music on behalf of the people who own or control it. This page explains what we accept, what we refuse, and how copyright complaints are handled.
1. Ownership stays with you
We do not claim ownership of your master recordings or compositions. Submitting a release grants us a limited, non-exclusive licence to deliver and administer that release with the platforms you select. If you leave the service, that licence ends for future distributions, subject to platform removal timelines.
2. What you must control
To distribute a release you must control both the sound recording and the underlying composition, or hold written permission from the parties who do. This includes beats purchased under a licence that permits commercial distribution, features cleared by the featured artist, and cover versions licensed through the appropriate mechanical licensing route.
- Original recordings — you own or exclusively control the master.
- Instrumentals and beats — a licence that explicitly permits distribution to streaming platforms.
- Cover songs — the required composition licences in every territory you distribute to.
- Samples — clearance or a licence covering the sampled work.
3. Prohibited uploads
We do not accept unauthorised copyrighted material, ripped audio, bootlegs, unofficial remixes, re-uploads of other artists' catalogues, or content designed to impersonate another artist. Releases that fail verification are removed without delivery, and repeat breaches lead to permanent account suspension.
4. Content ID eligibility
Content ID is available only for releases that pass rights ownership verification and meet partner requirements. Cover songs, uncleared samples, third-party beats and public domain recordings generally do not qualify. Approval is decided by the platform's partner process; we prepare and submit eligible requests but cannot guarantee acceptance.
5. Claim assistance
If a video you control carries a claim you believe is incorrect, we can review the claim and help you prepare a dispute or removal request. Include the video URL, the claimed track, and evidence of your ownership — project files, stems, release dates or registration records. Requests without supporting evidence are rarely successful, and the final decision always rests with the claiming party and the platform.
6. Submitting a copyright notice
If you believe content distributed through GeetSuno infringes your rights, email support@geetsuno.com with the subject line “Copyright Notice” and include:
- Your full name, address, telephone number and email address.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed.
- The release, track or video URL where the allegedly infringing content appears.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on their behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We review complete notices promptly and may suspend or remove the affected release while the complaint is investigated. Incomplete notices may be returned for clarification.
7. Counter-notices
If your release has been removed and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice with the same contact details, identification of the removed material, a statement of good faith, and consent to the jurisdiction of the relevant courts. We may restore the release where the process permits.
8. Repeat infringers
Accounts that repeatedly distribute infringing material are terminated. Where a platform imposes a strike system, those strikes are applied at the platform level and may affect your channel or artist profile independently of your GeetSuno account.
